Make Plans to Attend the Annual Meeting
Southwestern Electric Cooperative members and their families are cordially invited to attend the co-op’s 72nd Annual Meeting of Members. The event takes place on Saturday, September 11th, at Bond County Community Unit #2 Junior High School in Greenville.
The Annual Meeting is a perfect opportunity to participate in cooperative business with your voice and your vote while learning about the programs, products and services your co-op offers. This family-friendly gathering also features entertainment for all ages, including live music, entertainment, activities, prizes, and games.
“For many years it’s been our tradition to hold the meeting on the Saturday after Labor Day, which happens to fall on the anniversary of 9-11 this year,” says Kerry Sloan, CEO of Southwestern Electric Cooperative. “In addition to the meeting’s usual proceedings, we’ll take time to remember those who lost their lives in the attacks of 2001.”
Doors will open at 7 a.m. and breakfast will be available from 7 - 9:30 a.m., followed by the business meeting at 10 a.m. The Kids’ Carnival will remain open for the entire duration of the event.
Look for further details about the Annual Meeting in the August and September editions of The Southwestern. Questions or comments regarding the meeting may be directed to Susan File, director of member services at (800) 637-8667 or susan.file@sweci.com. We look forward to seeing you there!
Reporting Outages
To better serve you, Southwestern Electric Cooperative is asking all members to exclusively use (800) 637-8667 when contacting the cooperative. Even if you have a 664 exchange, please use the toll-free number.
When the Lights Go Out
Consult with your neighbors to see if you're the only one without service. If you are, check your electrical box for a tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse. If this doesn't solve your problem or if your neighbors are also without power, call Southwestern Electric Cooperative at (800) 637-8667. The line is staffed 24 hours per day. Your call will be answered by a Southwestern Electric Cooperative employee or a representative of the co-op's emergency response service. Please be prepared to give the operator your name, address, telephone number and SWECI account number. Do not rely on e-mail to contact the cooperative during an outage or other emergency. While our phones are constantly monitored, the e-mail inbox may not be.
