New CEO Introduced, Favorable Power Contract Announced At Southwestern Electric Annual Meeting

Southwestern Electric members met the co-op’s new CEO and learned of a favorable wholesale power contract at the cooperative’s 79th Annual Meeting of Members, held Saturday, Sept. 9, at Greenville Junior High School in Greenville, Ill. More than 2,000 people from Southwestern Illinois attended the meeting, which included breakfast, health screenings, activities for kids, and the co-op’s business meeting and election of directors.

Storm Interrupts Service to 250 Members

About 250 members in Madison and Macoupin counties are without power this evening as a line of strong thunderstorms push through the region, bringing high winds, lightning and strong rains to the co-op’s service area. Southwestern linemen were dispatched after 6 p.m. when the first outages were reported. Crews are currently working to restore power to members in both counties.

Madison County Outage Interrupts Service to 375 Members

About 375 Madison County members are without power this evening. The outage began at 7:40 p.m. and is affecting members north and east of McDonough Lake. Southwestern crews are currently working to isolate the source of the outage and make repairs.

More than 3,300 Southwestern Electric members are without power after a storm brought high winds and lightning to the cooperative's service area this morning. Members in Madison, Bond, Effingham and Fayette counties are affected by the outages.

Southwestern Electric Completing Repairs From Sunday Storm

About 60 Southwestern Electric members north of Farina remain without power today after Sunday morning’s storm snapped utility poles and tore down power lines in Effingham and Fayette counties. Joe Richardson, communications coordinator for the cooperative, said crews expected to complete repairs and restore power to the area this morning.
