    Ameren crews have restored power to a transmission line which serves Southwestern Electric’s Wrights and Edgewood Substations. The substations provide power to members in Effingham, Fayette, and Marion counties.

    A total of 1,000 members in Effingham and Fayette counties lost power at 6:00 p.m. due to a problem with the Ameren Illinois transmission line that feeds Southwestern Electric's Wrights and Edgewood substations. Ameren crews are working to resolve the issue.
  • Agricultural Accident Interrupts Power to 600 Members Tuesday, April 18, 2017
    An agricultural accident Monday morning interrupted power to about 600 Southwestern Electric members in Madison County. A farmer working a field near Prairietown Road struck and broke a guy wire, which came into contact with cooperative distribution and transmission lines, tripping breakers at Holiday Shores East Substation.

    AT&T technicians have restored phone service to Southwestern Electric Cooperative. The cooperative's phone system came on line shortly after 2 p.m.

    Southwestern Electric crews are working to restore power to 160 cooperative members in Madison County tonight after a thunderstorm brought damaging winds, lightning and hail to the bistate area earlier this evening.

    A thunderstorm producing damaging winds, lightning and hail is currently moving through Southwestern Electric Cooperative’s service area, resulting in isolated outages in Madison County.
  • Accident Causes Outage South of Sorento Saturday, February 25, 2017
    About 65 cooperative members south of Sorento are without power this morning after an automobile left the road and entered the right of way, breaking a utility pole. Line crews are currently on site making repairs.
  • Animal Disrupts Power at Smithboro Substation Tuesday, February 7, 2017
    About 560 Southwestern Electric members lost power this evening when an animal came into contact with circuits in the cooperative's Smithboro Substation.

    As precipitation continues to fall in Missouri and Illinois this morning, Southwestern Electric operations and engineering personnel are evaluating the weekend forecast. “So far we’ve experienced just a handful of outages, but we’re not letting our guard down,” said Bobby Williams, Southwestern’s chief operating officer.
