High Winds Causing Blinks, Isolated Outages
Thursday, March 14, 2019

11:30 a.m.

Southwestern crews are responding to three outages this hour as high winds buffet the cooperative’s service area. About 210 members in Fayette County, south of Shobonier, are without power. Crews are patrolling lines to isolate the cause of the outage.

Linemen are also responding to isolated outages in Bond and Madison counties affecting about 25 members.

A high wind warning issued by the National Weather Service this morning forecasts sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching 60 mph. Winds of this magnitude are likely to drop trees into rights-of-way, break utility poles and bring down power lines.

Members are cautioned to avoid downed and low-hanging lines, as they be energized or become energized at any time.
