Storms Interrupt Service To 725 Southwestern Members

A line of thunderstorms sweeping though the I-70 corridor this evening has left 725 Southwestern Electric members without service.

As of 5:30 p.m., 470 Madison County members were without power, while 200 members in Fayette County and 55 Bond County members were without service.

Operations and engineering personnel dispatched crews shortly after 4 p.m. in response to outages reported in Madison County.At present, the storms are migrating east into Effingham County, and linemen are repairing damage at several locations throughout the cooperative's service area.

Members are cautioned to avoid all downed and low-hanging lines, as they may be energized or become energized at any time.
