    More than 1,200 Southwestern Electric members in Fayette County lost power about 9 p.m. when an Ameren transmission line supplying power to the cooperative’s Sefton and Confidence Substations, located north and south of Brownstown, failed due to damage from this evening’s storm.

    Line crews are making repairs throughout Southwestern’s service area this evening after a strong storm snapped trees and brought down power lines in Southwestern Illinois. As of 8:30 p.m., 1,185 members were without power.

    A strong storm swept across Southwestern Electric’s service area this evening interrupting power to members in seven of the 11 counties served by the cooperative. As of 6:30 p.m., approximately 1,000 members were without power.
  • Downed Tree Causes Ameren Transmission Line Failure Tuesday, June 26, 2018
    A downed tree caused an Ameren transmission line failure in St. Jacob area.
  • Damaged Fuse Interrupts Power to Members in Effingham and Fayette Counties Sunday, June 24, 2018
    About 545 members are currently without power due to animal-related fuse damage at the cooperative’s Altamont Substation. The outage is affecting members in Effingham and Fayette counties, between Altamont and St. Elmo. Repairs will require a brief service interruption to all members served by the cooperative’s Altamont Substation.
  • Storm Interrupts Power to 250 Members Tuesday, June 19, 2018
    This evening’s storm has interrupted power to 250 Southwestern Electric members. Lightning and wind have damaged fuses and brought limbs into lines in Madison, Effingham and Fayette counties. Crews have been dispatched and are making repairs.
